As of February 18, 2011, coffee futures increased 101 percent
over past year.
We had a major decision to make, close down Dam Coffee or increase our
prices. As you can see by the chart, coffee prices having
increased dramatically since Dam Coffee opened 1 year ago. We are taking a gamble,
but we will continue with the
operation of Dam Coffee.
Thanks to anticipating some of this price increase, we were able to offset some of
this shock to our consumers and maintain our prices while we took the
hit. We hoped before our supplies dwindled the market would start
to fall, but we are now entering the season when coffee prices
traditionally increase. We just had to place a major reorder
and we can no longer maintain our current pricing structure and stay
open for business.
We
do not want to hit everone with a major price increase, so most coffee
items are on "sale", at a higher cost than they were in the past.
You can see where our prices are going, and sadly, that may not be the
limit of price increases.
As Always, the best deal we have going is the "
Dam
Club House", Those prices can be locked in for 6 months, with no
commitements to reorder. Naturally, we will continue to honor all
current Dam Club House Memberships until they expire.
On a side note, we are experimenting with different teas now and hope to
offer a tea recipe with the same quality you've grown to expect from Dam
Coffee.
Sadly, we decided against Decaf at this time. We were unable to justify
its cost, however unless you are on doctors orders to strictly avoid
caffeine, you may want to give our coffee a try, everyone we know of had
favorable results.
Thanks for your understanding and support. We hope we can continue
to serve all our valued customers.
